Carbon Credit Innovation
Carbon credits are issued pursuant to what are called ‘protocols.’ A credit issuing exchange, like the Chicago Climate Exchange, has published a list of activities that qualify for carbon credits and the methodology by which the number of credits are determined. This allows businesses to maintain records pursuant to that ‘protocol’ and garner carbon credits year after year.
